This blog is intended to be my farm journal. Here I will post regular (whatever that means) updates about what is happening here at Sam Hill.
I love to garden, raise pigs, work with leather, and do other "back to the basics" things.
Born in the 60s, I am married and have 7 kids. My wife is Japanese; we met at college in the states. We lived in Osaka, Japan, from 1992 until 2002. We have lived in the Ozarks since that time. In Japan, I was in education: corporate training and private high school. Now, I teach English as a Second Language at the local K-8 school. I have taught high school Spanish, as well.
Here's my 2009 garden early on. The potatoes are up and running and the sweet potatoes are just getting started beyond them. The summer squash is making a go of it. You can see the hills for the winter squash at the far edge and if you look close you can see the field corn about 6 inches up.
